Web Site Design and Development
I’ve been building web sites since the web was wild. I’ve built blogs, small sites consisting of just a few pages, large sites of 100+ pages, and was the content and strategy leader of a corporate web team that maintained a rich international web presence for a large enterprise software company. I use this fantastic open source software called WordPress that is supported by a massive community of developers that are always building and improving plugins that let you add just about any functionality imaginable to a web site. WordPress also makes it easy to manage content over time, with a web interface that makes adding, editing or deleting content as easy as filling out a form and clicking “Update Page.”
- Here are some examples of web sites I’ve built.
- If you want to geek out a bit and learn about the software I use to build web sites, here’s some information about the platform and technique I use.
- If you want to find out how I got into the Web and learned how to do all this stuff,
here’s a summary of my 13 years of web experience.
Print Materials
I’ve been creating all kinds of printed materials since the beginning of my career…brochures, newsletters, flyers, tradeshow signage, t-shirts, tchochkes and other merchandise. I have experience sourcing and working with professional printers on projects of varying shape and size, and relationships with local print shops that can handle projects of any complexity or volume.

Brand Identity
Like most designers, I really like designing logos. I enjoy the challenge of coming up with an attractive mark that conveys not just a company’s, organization’s or event’s name and tagline, but its personality and purpose.
Writing
I enjoy writing very much, and feel fortunate that over the course of my nearly 20 year career I’ve had the opportunity to write everything from ad copy and direct emails to technical whitepapers and scripts for event videos. In fact, it’s my passion for writing that made me call my site GBarr MarCom instead of GBarr Design. Developing and refining the copy that populates print pieces and web sites that I design is an integral part of what I do.
